An article over on WanderingGoblin.com tells of a 12 year old Norwegian boy who used the skills he learnt whilst playing WoW, to save his sister from a deadly threat.
While out walking in the woods, Hans J?rgen Olsen and his 10 year old sister stumbled upon an enraged Moose. The animal attacked Hans' sister, so in a bid to rescue the girl, Hans used a couple of tricks he'd learnt from playing WoW. First, he Taunted the Moose by hitting it repeatedly with a stick. Once he had the furious animal's attention, he Feigned Death.
The Moose soon lost interest in Hans, thinking him dead, and went off about his business.
There you have it, proof that WoW saves the lives of children! It should be played in schools to teach kids valuable life skills! In all seriousness though, good on you Hans, and it's nice to see WoW being accredited for something positive :)
WoW Helps Boy Save Sister From Enraged Moose
At least, that's what I think happened, free web-based Norwegian to English translation being what it is. Here's what I could figure out:
A Norwegian boy named Hans Jorgen Olsen, age 12, went out walking with his 10 year old sister in the woods. There they encountered an enraged moose, who attacked the girl. And that's where the WoW skills came into play.
This is Hans the Moose-Taunter, the feigner of death!
See, Hans plays WoW, and World of Warcraft has taught Hans a few useful skills when faced with gigantic crazed mammals. First he taunted the moose, hitting it repeatedly with a stick (if I'm reading that part correctly). This allowed the little girl, Hans' sister, to escape. Then, when the crazed moose focused its attention on Hans, he utilized another skill learned form WoW: he feigned death.
Oddly, this all worked. The moose kicked at Hans a few times then, thinking him dead, left.
Hot damn, WoW is not only a fun MMO, it's actually a life saver! You can read it for yourself (if you're a Norwegian speaker) right here.
